Michael Crichton, author of Jurassic Park, turns his fast-paced storytelling to the booming world of genetic research. In a near future that looks a lot like the present, a man discovers that the cells taken from his body have been sold and patented by a biotech company; a researcher's transgenic experiment produces a chimpanzee-human hybrid; a grey parrot proves to have a startling gift for conversation; and scientists, lawyers and investors race to profit from genes of every kind. Weaving multiple storylines into a satirical thriller, Crichton explores who owns our bodies and what happens when science outruns the law. HarperCollins, 2006.
